Fastest dress I have ever made!

This weekend my daughter and I found our way to the local Jo-ann fabric store. We found Pre-Smocked Sundress Shirred Fabric. The lady at the fabric cutting table gave me a measuring tape to see how big around Emma's chest was. We took it home the fabric; washed and ironed it. Then I simply sewed the two cut sides together and hemmed the skirt.  Done!
We are going to put straps on the dress. But on that shopping trip Emma and I couldn't come to an agreement one what the straps should be. :)

I did find the official directions on Jo-Ann's website. (I'm not big on directions but for those who are :) )

Coffee card holder

A few weeks ago some friends of mine got together to make cards and hang out together. I made this coffee card holder to share with them. Take a 81/2X 11 card stock and cut it in half so it is 4 1/4 x 11. Then you score it at 3, 5.5 and 8. Fold the paper so it zig zags and the center fold is in the inside of the card. You will place adhesive on three side. On the forth side i used the word window punch to make the slit for the gift card. Decorated the front as shown below. The coffee cup are from PTI- heart-2-heart #1 mini stamp set and die. I first put the paper and ran through my Cuttlebug and polka dots folder. Then I cut out the coffee cup using the die and finally stamped the coffee cup. I like to have a few made just in case I need a quick gift! :)

Bottle tag

I have family members buying another house so I wanted to make something for them on the day the move in. I used the PRI (Papertery Ink) wine bottle tag die, the harvest berries die and stamp collection.
I used the circle from two other bottle tags. The Congrats stamp is from stampin up
SAY IT WITH SCALLOPS stamp set and the thread is the stampin up Linen thread. :)
It's nothing  big just a little something ;)

Logo Cake

A friend of mine wanted to celebrate her massage therapy company's 4th year of being in business. She wanted me to create her logo on the cake. This might have been one of the hardest things I have ever tried to do. Lettering and logos have to really look right for folks to know what it is. :) I did what I could to make it look just like the logo. She liked it and there was only a small piece left so I would call it a success. :)

Another Henna cake

awhile ago I had and extra cake so I practiced icing the cake to look like henna. I figured I would post that  one too. I used a number 2 Wilton tip on this one and think that tip size is best one for me  to use for Henna designs. This one I completely made up the design. The baby cake I tried to follow a henna design that I found. I kind of like this one better.

Baby cake...ha!

For the gals at work we had lunch out and I made a "baby shower" cake. I could find any baby shower that fit the event... So, I took the pink, blue and yellow baby colors and mixed it with their Indian heritage!
I used a number 4 Wilton tip and think it was a little too big. :(  I was fun to try and the ladies enjoyed the cake.

Baby palooza continues!

To get ready for some more baby fun at work. I made two gift card holders for the team to sign and give to the two girls that are pregnant. I wanted to make them about the same. The one thing I did for my personal enjoyment, is to color one of the circles the color to match my gender I'm guessing the babies are! ;)

Mother's Day weekend fun

This Mother's day we made a weekend of it. The family and I went camping at Deception pass. We couldn't have had a better weekend to go! There was sunshine all weekend long!!!
I wanted to make a little treat for the kids and make it unique to camping. I found this yummy muffin recipe for camping! Kids loved them and they are super easy to make:)

I got the recipe from:http://www.food.com/recipe/campfire-muffins-66436

This is the oranges cut in half the orange cleaned out and the Jiffy batter in it. Then you wrap them in to heavy duty foil and place in hot coals.

As you can see some of them got a little over done but still yummy!

Kids approvals!!!

  • Just in case here is the recipe and directions :
  • oranges
  • 2 (7 ounce) packages blueberry muffin mix (or any flavor)

Directions:

  2. 2

  3. 3
    Reserve the hollow peel shells.

  5. 5
Fill the orange peel cups half full of batter.
  6. 6
Wrap each one loosely with heavy duty aluminum foil.
  7. 7

Adding a few berries to the batter adds excellent flavor.

Kid's Scrapbooks

I am currently 4 years and 3 months behind in my scrapbooks for the kids. Giving that my daughter has just turned 5 this means that I am yet to finish one book for her..Yikes! However, last night I dusted off the scrapbook stuff and finished a page! :)  Sometimes it just takes the action of getting the photos on the page that gets me started again. :)
