Cuttlebug technique- Emboss Resist

Oh how I have missed crafting and blogging :) I have actually done some crafting but not had time to blog about it yet :) The first card I used a new technique called Emboss Resist.
I found it on Pinterest and I have wanted to try this technique for awhile!
This was the first thing I went to when designing my card for my Girl Friend crafting time!

This is the Pin: https://pinterest.com/pin/56576539038839813/ Just in case that doesn't work this is the link to the "Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog" and the great directions on how to do this technique http://fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com/2012/02/quick-tip-tuesday-embossing-folder.html

New Craft Room ready for crafts

I am sooooooo excited we got the craft room put together (for the most part). In order to push myself to get it done I had invited ladies over to do some crafting. It was something that I have been dying to do but have not had the time and what better way to push my craft room re-due but to get a dealing to craft and invite friends of for the reveal. (I didn't tell any of them just in case I didn't get it done).  Everyone brought a card for us to make and I loved them all!!!! I had such a great time to be around creative ladies and spend time doing some crafting!
Each shelf has it's on "section" Stamping/Paper crafts, embellishments, Scarpbooking, Cricut, Sewing...

OK, with out further ado photos of the room- Please keep in mind that I have some decorations to put up on the wall :) (I will be posting them as I create them! ) I love the room and best thing is that it will fit 5 ladies for crafting! :D

New Craft Room table build

We have finally painted the two doors black and put them together with brackets. We also put 1X2's on the back of the doors to hold the bookcases in place.

We have built 5 of the 6 bookcases. (when putting the bookcases together we figured out that we could have 6 instead of 5) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ameriwood-3-Shelf-Bookcase-Multiple-Finishes/17480009 . The one issue with these bookcases is there is no support on the backside of the bookcase so they leaned. Brad has a plan to make them stand up right.  He made them plumb by putting 1X2's between the left and right bookcases. (great idea Hubby) more photos to come... note the bookcases are not flush to the wall. There is a 15inch gap and that is how he will crawl in and put the 1X2's between the left and right bookcases.

New craft room update

The Bookcase for my new work table has arrived and I hope to talk Brad into working on the table tonight so I can start getting my room together. :) I am staying with the Pink/Black colors for the work areas. This time I am going to have more defined work areas. one for Sewing, Criuct, Stamping, Scrapbooking, etc.

I wanted to have a table that I could stand and work so I took the idea from Pinterest and got taller shelves. Here is the link to the ones I got: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ameriwood-3-Shelf-Bookcase-Multiple-Finishes/17480009  in Black. I got 5 of them so that I have more shelves all the way around.
The one thing that I am worried about is that the shelves are not a deep as I wanted but Brad has an idea to work with that.

I hope to post photos this weekend of the construction of the work table :)

I soooo can't wait to get my craft room back  up and running :)

New craft room spoiled my project

This weekend my husband and I decided that we should move my office into the old guest room and make the office a playroom for the kids. (the office is bigger) In moving of the large cabinet it actually broke apart!!! I was a little sad but I quickly came up with a new idea. :)  However, the idea of this post is now spoiled: http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6386936671443978184#editor/target=post;postID=6906410099766921850

I will post photos of the new craft room as soon as it is done :)  I am so excited about the new room/ layout!!!! :) as always I have found some great ideas from Pinterest! One idea is the new work table...SOOOO can't wait for it to be done :)

Mini cards- for kid birthdays

I love it when a card comes together in a time of need. :) My kids have the joy of going to many kid parties and I used to make full size cards. Awhile ago I was talking to another crafter and she said that she makes small card for kids parties. My thought was what a good idea...the kids don't care about the cards they normally want the toys. :) So, I have been doing more small cards for the kids gifts.
Well, today I was scrambling to get the gift together and I realized that I had run out of cards and not made time to make more. I jump into my craft room and found the nicely stamped and glittered lion and green square. I cut the paper for the card and done!
I was so glad that I had envelope still made :) I used my Cricut to make them a long time ago when I started making the small cards.

Here is a regular sized card and the small size for kids parties.

Coffee card holder

A few weeks ago some friends of mine got together to make cards and hang out together. I made this coffee card holder to share with them. Take a 81/2X 11 card stock and cut it in half so it is 4 1/4 x 11. Then you score it at 3, 5.5 and 8. Fold the paper so it zig zags and the center fold is in the inside of the card. You will place adhesive on three side. On the forth side i used the word window punch to make the slit for the gift card. Decorated the front as shown below. The coffee cup are from PTI- heart-2-heart #1 mini stamp set and die. I first put the paper and ran through my Cuttlebug and polka dots folder. Then I cut out the coffee cup using the die and finally stamped the coffee cup. I like to have a few made just in case I need a quick gift! :)

Weekend prototype Part 2

I know it's been a long delay on finishing the weekend fun project but this weekend I have almost finished!!!
This weekend I ventured to one of the hardware stores and purchased a 1x6x10 cedar wood planks. (this week I learned that a 1x6x10 is not actually 6 but about 5 1/2inches.) I had them cut the boards into 6" cuts. So, the tiles are 6x51/2.
Next, I sanded the edges down so they are more rounded and smooth. When I was finished sanding I laid out the letters and realized they are too big. So, I re-cut the letters 4.25"and the little letters/numbers are still 1" (actual size) using the Sans Serif cartridge on the Cricut.
After re-cutting the letters I simply spread Mod Podge on the wood and placed the letter in the glue. I let the Mod Podge dry and brushed another layer of Mod Podge over the letter after the first layer was dry.
Here is a preview of the completed titles:

Weekend prototype

First I wanted to create a prototype for our Scrabble wall hanging. We started out with a 4x4 paper prototype. After looking at it, with my friend Barb, we realized that we needed it to be bigger for the spaces we want to place ours. So we did a prototype of a 6x6. The 'B' is 5.625" (actual size) and the '1' is 1" (actual size) cut with the Sans Serif cartridge on the Cricut.

Today I finished a little Valentine spirit for the front door! I keep moving thing around on it so I actually cut out the hearts on my Cricut /Gypsy and glued them to clothespins so I could move them easily. The are made from a Foam Glitter sheet. The smaller dark heart is made off of the Doodlecharms Cartridge and the light pink is from the Gypsy Wanderings Cartridge. I got the other fun items at Michael's
